When it is almost a month since I moved to Bonavista. I have successful mapped out great after supper walks, good cheese source and a great cup of coffee (actually a few). Having time for myself in the evenings has given me my creativity back. I am painting again, taking photos and working on new projects. It has been interesting meeting so many new people. Im currently working on printing blocks and wording for two zines. Zines are basically self published magazines that are normally priced below $12.00. I had never really had much experience with them until a workshop I did recently. So, I am making one of my poems I have written over the last few years and another one on basic natural dyeing with onion skin. My thinking on my creative work being a little more fluid is really working for me. New and exciting things are to come!
Well it’s all happening! Yellow Rose is officially open at 43 Church Street, Bonavista NL. My little shop is filled with Yellow Rose products! You can also find things from The Fairy Botanist, The Purple Raven, Two Turners, Atelier West, Classy Glass Girls, Maeby at Home, Because I Felt Like It, Northeastern Folk Art and Pin Point Ink! Here is a wee look!
I am pleased with how it has all turned out. I really like living in Bonavista. It has given me back my spark. I’m working on new projects now. Doing some zines with dye instruction and poetry, painting and needle felting .
Well, after a few weeks of life happening I have decided to delay my opening. Something that I have always kept in mind is that you have to give a lot of yourself to a business but have to remember not to lose yourself too. So, I am opening June 10th. My hours for the summer will be 11am- 6pm 7 days a week. Currently my work will be along side 10 other local craftspeople. I have hand selected all well made and unique work to compliment mine. I’m looking forward to seeing all your faces as this new journey unfolds!
It is only 11 days until I finish at the Quidi Vidi Plantation. Its hard to believe I started here 2 years ago. Time flies. I will miss my Plantation family but new adventures are too good to pass up.
I was so thrilled to hear from CBC NL last week to chat on the Morning Show about my move. Today we have an article, too! Take a read 🙂
Well, the cat is out of the bag! This June I will be opening my own studio and shop in Bonavista, Newfoundland. The new space will allow me to expand my product line and even sell the work other craftspeople. Im thrilled to have this new adventure on the horizon. I have great plans for Yellow Rose, including a stronger online store. Itll be great to see where it will go. 💛
Im going to try and post every few days with process shots. Things are happening in my studio that you wont want to miss! New plans and new products are under way! How about my new jewelry line? Naturally dyed and machine embroidered.
